Shiva Jyothi Dance Academy is a cultural ambassador to continue spreading awareness about the traditional Bharatanatyam. This Temple art is taught with spiritual background. We are very passionate and devotional towards the offerings that we do to the new generation.

Smt. Thejaswini Raj is an accomplished professional Bharathanatyam teacher with over 40 years of teaching experience.

She founded her institute, Shiva Jyothi Dance Academy at Mumbai in the year 1980. This institution, that spans over three decades and two continents, is committed to preserving and perpetuating the ancient and spiritual artform of Bharathanatyam. She strives to impart through the medium of Bharathanatyam, cultural, spiritual and devotional awareness to all her students, nurturing their passion and appreciation for this 5000-year-old art.

Smt. Thejaswini Raj is an accomplished professional dance teacher with over 40 years of teaching experience.

She is well known for her excellent choreographic skills be it an intricate Nritta pattern or an in-depth detailed abhinaya piece. She follows the Kaattu Mannar Koyil Muthukumaran style of Bharathanatyam under the guidance of her father, the late Guru Shri S.V. Srinivasan, who is the direct disciple of Kaattu Mannar Koyil Shri. Muthukumaran Pillai. Smt. Thejeswini Raj continued her training under the tutelage of other renowned Gurus of South India in the Pandanallur style.
 
She established Shiva Jvothi Dance Academy in Mumbai in 1980 and since then has trained numerous students in the art; many of who have been awarded the National Scholarship and have won various dance competitions. Her students have performed at venues like the Lincoln Center, NY; World Conference of Music and Dance, California; Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival, Cleveland, OH and several prestigious venues in India. Her productions – Devi Bhagavatam and Sri Krishna Geetham were performed and widely appreciated in the tri-state area.
 
She has been learning Kanjira from Sri. A.R.Balaskandan since 2005 and she is a part of Akshara Percussion Ensemble.
